Announcing Caversham Festival 2015

By | Caversham Festival | No Comments

Join us on the banks of the Thames for a jam-packed Caversham Festival celebrating local musicians, performers, artists and more. This years’ festival will be on the 10th, 11th and 12th of July 2015 in Christchurch Meadow, Reading.

Performances this year already include the debut of the 2015 winners of the under 18s Battle of The Bands with Draw the Shades and Twisted State of Mind taking to the stage. We are also pleased to announce our continued collaboration with Beautiful Creatures theatre company who are set to bring us another inspiring performance to rival their festival finale, The Fortress, of last year.

There will be an array of stalls from local artists and businesses, alongside children’s rides and entertainment, and of course the fabulous Sunday Samba Parade returns on the 12th July. Keep an eye on the website for further announcements about this years’ programme.

Entry is once again, completely free for all.

Readipop raises all the cash to put this festival on for free for the people of Reading. Last year after all the costs (over £35,000) were paid there was £500 left. We’re grateful to our main supporters – Festival Republic and The Earley Charity as well as Reading Borough Council and others.

We are recruiting willing volunteers to help make Caversham Festival 2015 the biggest and best yet.

In terms of commitment we’re looking for whatever you can offer over the weekend. There is also a site set-up day on Friday 11 which you’re welcome to volunteer for too. For every 4 hours volunteered we’ll provide you with a free meal voucher for one of the food stalls at the festival! Tasks for volunteers will include manning entrances, selling programmes, directing the public and stall holders around the site, supporting the backstage teams, setting up stages/stalls/sound/lighting equipment, litter picking and generally helping the day to run smoothly! We aim to create a rotating schedule so that volunteers can experience several different tasks throughout their time at the festival. You don’t need any previous experience to volunteer. If you are younger than 16 you may need to ask a parent/guardian to volunteer with you, but please still register so that we can look into it.
