London 3-piece and self-described “alternative rock” group Happyness arrived in 2015 on the wave of the 90s slacker rock revival. The band, made up of Jon EE Allan on guitar, bass and vocals, Benji Compston on guitar and vocals, and Ash Cooper on drums, reached critical acclaim with debut album ‘Weird Little Birthday’.

New record ‘Write In’ released this April deviates from the genre’s well trodden paths and instead sees them recalling classic songwriters and pop acts like the Kinks alongside their usual skewed indie rock leanings, recalling the lackadaisical arrangements of American acts like Wilco and Yo La Tengo.

With a festival CV including SXSW, Green Man festival and Bestival, Happyness are a captivating act reviving the summery, uninhibited pop of indie yore.
